The Post Graduate College of Veterinary Surgeons Nigeria PCVSN, on Thursday 13th of August 2026 graduated 132 Fellows at her 6th Convocation and 8th Investiture Ceremony held in Abuja, Nigeria.
The event which took place at the A.I Abdulkadir Auditorium, National University Commission, Maitama Abuja, had in attendance officials of the college, officials of the Veterinary Council of Nigeria, and officials of the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association. The event was also graced by the Honourable Minister, Federal Ministry of Livestock Development, Dr. Idi Muhktar and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry; Dr. Chinyere Ijeoma Akujobi who was ably represented by the Chief Veterinary Officer of Nigeria in person of Dr. Samuel Anzaku.
The keynote speech was delivered by Dr. Junaidu Maina on the theme of the event: Building a Resilient and Globally competitive Livestock Industry: The strategic role of Veterinary Specialists in Nigeria. His keynote address emphasized on the fact that PCVSN must aim to produce graduates that will strengthen the Veterinary systems in Nigeria in order to protect animal health, safeguard food safety, safeguard public health, drive innovation and research, build capacity through mentoring and collaboration. He noted that the creation of the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development has opened a window of opportunity that must be turned into a lasting prosperity. Extract from keynote address here.
Fellows that graduate from the PCVSN are confered with the award that makes them specialists in their various fields and are officially recognised as consultants.
